Projektinitiativ #21: RollSim-FE: Fast Simulation Tool for Long Product Rolling ( 1 kommentar)

The aim is to develop a fast Finite Element simulation software for the analysis of multistage hot rolling processes for long products, that allows to calculate: material flow, temperature evolution, austenite formation and decomposition, mechanical properties and stresses, inclusion and pore evolution under complex temperature and strain fields.
Bijish Babu presents the initiative during the 2017 conference
Ability to control and improve the technically challenging process of high-speed shape rolling of long products is critical for growth of the industry. Faster and more accurate methods for product development can speed-up the introduction of new grades and products into the market. Simulations can help in accurately predicting the process window for new and existing materials. This allows optimization of the resource utilization and improved product quality.

It would be excellent if this concept could be linked to initiative #20 in some way. Although the focus here is on metallurgical processes, input into the roadmap for modelling would be useful.
